What Has 2020 Taught Me

2020 was the year of the devil. There is no doubt we are living in tribulations. I’ve never seen so much evil. It has popped it’s ugly head into everything.

2020 started out, so we thought, as an amazing year, Family, ringing in the new year in a new place.

We were blessed to go to Hawaii at the beginning of 2020.

That was a dream come true. But even with that, we felt something brewing soon after.

Now here we sit, the absolute WORST year of our life.

Families are torn apart, our country is torn apart, lives destroyed.

2 Timothy 3:2-4 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,

Pitted against each other, Evil calling itself good.

Isaiah 5:20  Beware, those who call evil good and good evil,
who turn darkness into light and light into darkness,
who turn bitter into sweet and sweet into bitter

I’ve watched people calling themselves Christ followers give and ask for ungodly advice.

Colossians 2:8 See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.

We are seeking worldly favor instead of Godly favor.

Romans 12:2 Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

At this point, the only thing we have is God.

Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.

It reminds me of Log Home’s Dad first Mission Trip to Haiti after the earthquakes. He called one night after church service. He said I have never seen such amazing worship. ALL their hope is in God as most have nothing else. I remember at that time thinking we could us a little of this.

We have become so selfish and have strayed so far from God. The problem today is, so many either doesn’t believe in God or their belief is so distorted. At the end of the evil is selfishness. God tell us to look to Him, the world says look to yourself. God says to serve others, the world says, serve yourself.

Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

I personally was never so happy to see a year pass, hoping and praying that 2021 would bring joy and restoration.

Job 42:10 And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

I know our God is a mighty God and He will restore all the locusts have stolen.

Maybe not in our time but His.

Joel 2:25-26 I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you. “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never again be put to shame.

In the end, 2020 taught me, that my marriage is the only consistant, loving relationship I have, We have lived a hard 2020. We have became closer than even I thought possible. I love this man. I love that we grow closer even in hard times. I love that God gave us the greatest gift in each other. So for that I am thankful.

1 Peter 3:7

Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

Peace, Love and EnJoy
